Terms of Service

All campus students, faculty, staff, and others affiliated with the University of California, Berkeley (including those in program, contract, or license relationships with the campus) may register with the Lab and create projects related to the humanities, arts, and interpretive social sciences.  Individual members of the broader scholarly community are eligible to register and participate in already established projects.

The Townsend Center will review each newly created project within 72 hours for compliance with University of California policies, rules, and regulations, as well as local, state, and federal laws. We reserve the right to deny use of the Lab when necessary to satisfy these restrictions and constraints. In general, the Townsend Center cannot and does not wish to be the arbiter of the contents of projects.

All Lab members will also be subject to the Community Norms as established by the Townsend Center for the Humanities.  The administrators of the lab reserve the right to block any users suspected of violating terms of service, copyright, or community norms.

The Townsend Humanities Lab is committed to your privacy as indicated by UC Berkeley privacy policies.
