Anglophonia! Literatures in English

A graduate student working group on recent interventions in Anglophone postcolonial literature

The goal of this working group is to consider theoretical and methodological questions specific to studies of the legacy of British colonialism in Anglophone literature, politics, and the arts. How can we complicate terminologies of "colonialism" and "postcolonialism" to address historical and cultural difference throughout the territories that once composed the British Empire? How do these imperial pasts continue to reproduce themselves in the varied narratives, identities, and social practices of contemporary "Commonwealth" nations?
