Bio:
Born in Merced, CA, raised in Nebraska, schooled at Barnard (BA) and Harvard (MA, PhD in Comparative Literature). Major focus on German, Scandinavian, and American literature. First book on photography and autobiography with U of Chicago Press. Articles on Ingmar Bergman, August Strindberg, Mark Twain, other German and Scandinavian authors and filmmakers. Second book on cinematic auteurism and self-projection. Developing projects on ecocriticism in Scandinavia
