Bio:
Jan Wurm divides her time between Berkeley and L.A., her hand between drawing and painting. Wurm has taught for University of California Berkeley Extension and lectured extensively. She serves on the Committee for Undergraduate Scholarships and Honors and is Vice President of the UC Art Alumni Group.
Wurm organizes a Guest Artist Lecture Series for the Berkeley Art Center and is actively engaged in expanding the community forum for contemporary art dialogue.
Through paintings, drawings, and books, Wurm examines daily life to reveal aspects of contemporary culture. Her writings on art and society have been published by Routledge in WS, Women's Studies Journal of Claremont Graduate University. She has juried and judged exhibitions as well as an artist residency for the National Park Service. Her work is in collections including the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco Achenbach Graphic Arts Foundation, New York Public Library Print Collection, Archive Verein der Berliner Künstlerinnen, and Universität für angewandte Kunst, Vienna.
