Mukurtu is very happy to announce our official partnership with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). We have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with WIPO, the Center for Digital Archaeology at Berkeley, Washington State University and the Center for Transformative Scholarship at USC in order to facilitate the development of an innovative interface and set of IP-related content management fields within the Mukurtu CMS. One of the most exciting and challenging parts of this work is the drafting and documenting of a set of unique "traditional knowledge licenses" that will work with traditional copyright and Creative Commons licenses to provide indigenous communities some control over their digital cultural heritage materials.
