Graduate Film Working Group

In its twenty-year history as a Townsend-supported working group, the Graduate Film Working Group has planned and sponsored a wide range of activities relating to the history, theory, and practice of film.  In planning events ranging from informal screenings and discussions designed and attended by group members, to public events such as lectures, colloquia, and conferences, the GFWG has aimed to broaden the shared body of knowledge in film studies and explore the key debates of a constantly evolving discipline.  By giving graduate students a forum to share their research interests with fellow students and with the broader community, the GFWG aims to promote intellectual exchange and develop critical perspectives on media in a world increasingly defined by a proliferation of images and screens.
